Luckily, even if you don’t have a green thumb, you can enjoy the many benefits of having houseplants. Here are seven easy-to-grow houseplants that require minimal care without maximum effort so that you can enjoy a little piece of nature inside.

Aloe vera is a succulent that is simple to grow. Succulents are similar to cacti and like dry arid conditions. Put them in a pot with good drainage, and that’s all they need. A terracotta pot is an ideal option for this plant, but they will be just fine in a plastic one too. Choose a potting soil specifically for cactus or mix regular potting soil with sand to help the plant drain. Aloes don’t need much attention. Just water around every three weeks and let the soil dry between waterings. Aloes do need sun, though, so placing them in a window will keep them happy.

Snake plants, sometimes referred to as mother-in-law’s tongue, are resilient plants at the top of the list of easy-to-grow houseplants. They have long, thick leaves and come in many different patterns and colors. They are great plants for someone who isn’t home much and forgets to water them. A little water goes a long way with these striking plants. If your space doesn’t have a lot of natural light, that’s ok. A snake plant won’t mind.
