Designing Software for Satellite Operations

How to start helping out in aerospace today

If you recall last week I delved into how to embark on designing Mission Control Software for constellations of satellites.

Now that I’ve found design and development resources for this mission, I’m ready to actually start designing. Now since I’m looking to design mission control software the best place to start would be — you guessed it — mission control software! But the issue is much of it is proprietary. So I need this software to be open soucre. Where would I find this? Oh yeah, in the resources from last week!

It turns out NASA has made this. And not only is there an open source mission control software but its going to be used in future missions so our work would not be in vein. This wouldn’t be an academic exercise. It would be solving a “real world” problem — pun intended.

A quick search on Github yielded an issues shared by staff at NASA within the last week.
