How can you become useful in Aleo Testnet 3

All Aleo Discord is busy with Testnet 3 right now. But maybe some newbies have difficulties with understanding what is it and what its role. And some people think about how they can be useful to project, but they can’t find any answers. Because of that I’d like to tell you in short about the main things of this important stage of Aleo history. But to talk about this testnet we should understand the definition of this word.

Testnet is a beta version of certain blockchain or product in crypto, when any user can actively test it. After testnet team plans to launch their product on mainnet.

Projects organize testnets to analyze their network(transaction speed, load and so on). By using test network developers can check the work of all functions and if necessary — correct and update.

First of all, Aleo will start to use its new consensus algorithm — AleoBFT. Also developers will add deployment and execution of apps on Aleo Virtual Machine(AVM) and supporting of wallet with several signatures by using threshold signatures FROST.

AleoBFT combines the instant finality of new blocks from validators with the computing power of provers to introduce coinbase supply into the network. The design of AleoBFT incentivizes validators to preserve liveness by producing blocks, and incentivizes provers to scale proving capacity for the Aleo ecosystem.

Aleo highlights 3 main roles in Testnet 3 — developers(make programs), provers(solve coinbase puzzles) and validators(make blocks).

Last Aleo articles are aimed at provers, so maybe team needs provers a lot. To become one of them you should install node(there are a lot of information about it in the Net, but here’s the link).

If you’re interested in coding, the ideal option for you will be a role of developer. You just download Leo language and start to test it. Also you can combine this with writing articles about Leo language.

But if you want to become a validator, you should have 1 million Aleo credits.

Of course the testnet isn’t limited by this 3 options. If you like making content, you can try yourself in ambassador program. Yes, the results of the third tour was announced maybe 2 weeks ago, but Viv told that Aleo maybe will have the 4th tour! Also you can get the role of ambassador earlier, but for that you should work harder.

To be honest, I hope that Aleo team after announcing their wallet(if it will be), will make its testnet, but it will be out of Testnet 3. Maybe closer to mainnet will appear decentralized swaps, exchanges and some programs, that can connect to Aleo. So I think we’ll test that sort of products.

The approximate end date of prover incentive period — 26 January 2023(8 weeks from the start), and the mainnet itself will be launched on Q1 of 2023. So we have a lot of time to help the team in their important period — Testnet 3!(novychann#2993)
