The Extra Mile

Going the extra mile is often almost impossible because for most of us, we move with just enough fuel for one mile.

The extra mile is for those who, after their fuel tank is empty, are willing to get out of the static car and walk to their destination.

It’s for those who are willing to push themselves to the limit and use the last strength they have to get the job done.

Doing good work and getting results sometimes requires consistent movement, regardless of how empty our emotional fuel tanks are.

That’s why it’s called extra — it’s the mile you travel when you’ve done all the normal things and then you do the things that other people won’t think of doing.

We can go the extra mile for anything, it doesn’t have to be just work. No wonder Jesus said that when we’re asked to go one mile, go two instead (Matthew 5:41).

It’s another way of saying, “I’m with you in this till the end.”
